Honolulu Zoo

Today I went to the Honolulu Zoo. It was a very nice little zoo with some really cool animals. most of the animals were different species of birds and monkeys. (So you know I had a good time.) The zoo had a very well done re-creation of the African Serengeti complete with many of the animals found there. The only problem I had was the time of day that I went. I forgot that a good portion of the animals would be sleeping. These little Gibbons made a racket that you could hear throughout the zoo. I have loaded a number of pictures to the photobucket. I am sorry about the blurriness of some of them. Mesh fence and auto zoom don't play nice together.

Luau

The newest pic post in the bucket has a couple of shots from the balcony of my hotel room and a bunch of shots from the luau we attended. The luau was a good show, a bit cheesy and touristy, but that is where the group wanted to go. (I don't think it had anything to do with the 4 drinks included in the admission price. haha) There was another luau at the Polynesian cultural center that was more realistic, but this was a really good time.

The USS MISSOURI

The newest pictures I have added to the bucket are from the USS Missouri. The official Japanese surrender order was signed on the deck of this ship, ending World War 2. It was pretty incredible to stand on a spot where such an important event in history took place. The submarine that you see is the USS Bowfin. A World War 2 sub that patrolled and scored many victories in the Pacific.
